Spiral Brings Fun and Functionality to Vicarious Visions SiteSpiral Design Studio’s new media team has once again proven their ability to create innovative design by reinventing Vicarious Visions, Inc.’s image online.
Vicarious Visions is an independent game development studio that has created hit titles with top brands such as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater™, Spider-Man®, Crash Bandicoot®, Star Wars®, SpongeBob Square Pants® and Monsters, Inc®. The company's success is based on innovative technology, compelling game designs and a rigorous development process. Vicarious Visions is a trusted partner of publishers including Activision, THQ, and Universal Interactive and brand holders including Disney, Pixar, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and Warner Brothers.
 The primary goal of the new website was to showcase Vicarious Visions as a premier East coast game developer whose products and services rival those of West coast corporations – the current Mecca of American game companies. The site’s design had to appeal to a wide range of end-users: publishers, gamers, existing staff members and potential employees. Site management had to be clean, intuitive and easy.
Vicarious Visions selected Spiral because they felt the design firm could accurately capture a strong corporate image, while maintaining a look consistent with the game industry. Solving the content management issues, Spiral’s e.Venture® Pro Content Management System (CMS) was the precise match for their tailored needs.

The Vicarious Visions site features a Macromedia Flash auto-detect, a function that intuitively serves up a different site configuration dependent on the computer’s capabilities. Animated Flash banners promote the latest game releases developed by the game company. The ability to view subsequent game screenshots with minimal clicks, right from the home page grabs visitors immediately. These banner graphics also rotate and change upon each page load/refresh, which maximizes screen real estate. Rotating character icons atop each page showcase the variety of brand names for which Vicarious Visions designs; these also change upon refresh or page load. Combined, these design and production elements give the site a variety of new looks, keeping the site fresh for each visit.
