Spiral Design Featured in Two National MagazinesAlbany, NY -- Within one week, Spiral Design Studio received notification that several of its creative works had been selected for publication in two of the nation’s top graphic design magazines.
First, Spiral Design learned that its 2003 Holiday Gift, “Discover Your True North,” won an award from HOW Magazine and is published in its current October 2004 issue. Presenting the 160 winners of their annual self-promotion competition, HOW selected Spiral Design’s creation, a red leather travel trunk filled with custom chocolates, originally designed postcards and a brass compass, as one of 19 pieces in its “Seasonal and Calendar” category.
“HOW is a prestigious design magazine – we feel honored to be included among so many talented artists” said Lauren Payne, principal of Spiral Design Studio. “And considering its vast readership, having our pieces published is all the more exciting.”
Days later, Spiral received a letter from yet another graphic design publication: Graphic Design USA. Several months earlier, the design firm had submitted several pieces for consideration in the magazine’s 2004 American Graphic Design Awards. To the Spiral team’s surprise, an impressive twelve pieces won awards in categories ranging from corporate logos to brochures, websites to promotional marketing.
“Like HOW Magazine, Graphic Design USA is well-recognized as a leading publication in the design industry,” said Payne. “Having a dozen of our entries recognized with awards is incredible.” The pieces will be featured in Graphic Design USA’s 2004 Design Annual, which will showcase each of the year’s American Graphic Design Awards winners. “We’re thrilled that they consider our work worthy of showcasing.”
With award notifications for thirteen pieces in two publications in one week, Payne feels extremely proud of Spiral Design’s eight employees. “Honestly, our team’s originality and creative efforts are being honored by these awards. We’ve got a dedicated crew of talented people here who really love what they do. It’s exciting to know that their ingenuity is being recognized on a national level.”
